Tyler Shoemaker is a Postdoctoral Scholar affiliated with the DataLab at the University of California, Davis. He conducts research on media history and the digital humanities, with a particular emphasis on text technologies, language art, textuality, and sound studies. His current book project, titled Literalism: Reading Machines Reading, centers on the pivotal role typographic errors have played in the development of machine reading methods since the late nineteenth century.
